Private insurance is just a small part of the problem. Every part of the health system is based on greed and it's us who is getting exploited.
It is criminal that diabetics are now paying over $1000 a month for insulin just to stay alive.
Last year I went to the ER for what turned out to be a kidney infection. Was there for 4 hours and the bill came to $28,000. Luckily I have excellent insurance but someone still had to pay it. Where the fuck do people think this money comes from?
A visit to my general doctor costs around $700 for a 30 minute visit.
The US is the only modern country on the planet that does nothing to regulate what pharmaceuticals can charge and what hospitals can charge. We pay more for health care than any other country yet our life expectancy is actually going down. Republicans have fought tooth and nail to regulate any of this.
How anyone is OK with any of this is beyond me.
