My girlfriend enjoys playing her Sims game. But those Sims characters can't prove she exists. If they could, it would be a very boring game. That's not what makes the game fun.
In their world, how could they even begin to prove she exists, anyway? They'd need the ability to think outside their programming, and they're not programmed to do that. She'd also need to be programmed directly into their realm somehow, but she's not.
Sims live their lives in the game, and eventually die in the game. Now wouldn't it be cool if they could suddenly exist in the real world as real people, after they die in the game? You've known them and nurtured them since they were babies, and now you get to hang out with them and be friends with them in real life.
At least the nice ones. You wouldn't want the mean ones in your life.
