i sat next to a gigantic guy one time...was a short flight to NY. I brought it up right away with him, as he was basically leaning into my side the immediately. He apologized and we ended up getting along and it wasn't the end of the world. I would hate to be on a long flight though.
They should likely just make a couple seats extra wide, and then if no extra wide people show up someone gets an extra wide seat free of charge..lol
