the electoral college was kind of an emergency break against dumbs.
if you believe that this is still the case that uneducated people who do not know a fuck what is going on going to vote, than you better skip democracy and set up a king or a computer.
to have something like that in a constitution is a shame for a country because it assumes that people are too stupid to vote.
in over 500 years you were not able to create a democracy yet and thatīs why you can not be the ones that tells others how democracy works.

Thommy, you are clueless. Without the electoral college, the big cites would dominate and decide every election. New York and LA would decide every election. The US has more than 3000 counties within the states. In 2016 Trump won in 84% of all counties, and Clinton won 16%. But you think the 16% should have won, because you are clueless.
Look at the 2008 election. Obama won with a record-low 22% of all counties. John McStain won 78% but he still lost the election. Without the electoral college, Obama would have LOST. Does that make you reconsider the value of the EC?
