our prisons are full of men and women, mostly from single parent homes, who selfish, inconsiderate and self centered parents exercised their "personal freedom" in raising their child and it becomes all of societies problem as the adult then fails to thrive in life as a result.

As a parent can you decide what clothes your kid wears, what they read, what they watch, who they hang out with, where they go to school, hell, even decide to educate them a home yourself, what religion they belong to, even what they eat?
Yes, you do.
A parent has the right to raise a child how they see fit. You don't agree with it, that's fine, but you don't get to tell other people how to live. Isn't that what you Republicans are always bitching about? You can't shut up about liberals trying to tell you how to live and now you are doing the exact same thing.
Also, aren't Republicans for smaller government and more personal freedom? What it really seems to be is more personal freedom so long as they agree with it.
