I saw it on opening night 7pm Thursday showing in IMAX which sell for $20 a ticket. It was sold out. The first showing was at 6pm in another theatre in the same Cineplex for the Marvel Fan Event which was sold out. The 9:30pm showing for IMAX had a line all the way down. I don't know if it was sold out but the fans were lining up even though the IMAX version has reserved seating.

Still, even by Marvel's standards, Captain Marvel flew higher, further and faster than its relative competition. The Brie Larson/Samuel L. Jackson/Reggie the Cat sci-fi adventure opened with $153m in North America this weekend, which is the second-biggest solo superhero non-sequel launch behind Black Panther ($202m in 2018). It's the third-biggest March opening of all time, sans inflation, behind Batman v Superman ($166m in 2016) and Beauty and the Beast ($174m in 2017).
Wehateporn - its no secret that some people are upset because they misinterpreted Brie Larson's intent when it came to press coverage, and its no secret that some are out to trash the movie.
Regardless of what side of the fence you are on, if you are an MCU fan you should go see the movie and decide for yourself if you like it. I read critics reviews of movies but only after I see the movie. You owe it to yourself to do the same.
If you're not an MCU fan, then maybe check it out when it comes to a streaming service. That way, you will know for sure, and who knows? You might enjoy it.
