According to the Facebook post, the video was filmed at a store in East Haven.

The video has been shared over 7,000 times and has more than 180,000 views. Comments overwhelmingly supported the victims and condemned Terrone.

According to the New Haven Register, one of Terrone’s black neighbors was surprised to hear about the incident and mentioned that his grandchildren play with her kids.

He added that she was an “excellent” neighbor but was “in a bad situation.”

Lt. Joseph Murgo released a statement, saying East Haven Police “is aware of this disturbing video and the hate speech contained in it” but that no complaint has been filed.

He said the department was coordinating with Shop Rite to understand what happened at the store.

He asked that anyone with information to come forward.

“We have a lot of avenues to go down if somebody were to reach out to us,” Murgo told the New Haven Register. “We want somebody to come forward... if they were present last night.”

Though no complaint has been filed, Murgo said that spitting constitutes assault.

Hamden Public Schools said that since Terrone’s children were present during the incident, a Department of Children and Families report was filed.

“The language the employee used in the video is in conflict with the values of the Hamden Public School System,” the district’s statement said. “Someone who will use that sort of language in any setting, whether public or private, is not someone we want anywhere near our children. The employee is separated from service, and we hope that her children will receive the support they need after witnessing such a traumatic event.”

In a joint statement, Mayor Curt Leng and Council President Michael McGarry condemned Terrone’s actions.
