It was REPORTED that while McCain was alive, he sent his own personal assistant to the FBI and the Democrats and to BuzzFeed, The Washington Post, and the New York Times with that dossier.
Trump repeated what was said by a reporter that this was a "stain on McCain's legacy" to have done that.
McCain acted out of pure malice and we are all STILL suffering from it as a nation because of the huge divisiveness the whole "Russia" lie has caused.

Trump attacked a dead guy last weekend on Twitter.
But not new from Trump, he attacked McCain when he was alive. Trump prefers war heroes that were “not captured and tortured”. Classy dont you think.
Like I said the politics, and the issued these two guys had should be forgotten when the guy died. A guy that served his country his whole life.
A decent person knows when to stop. But Trump likes to tweet, and his bullying riles the base.
