If EU wanted to kick them out they already would have, but they're too dependant of the U.K. for inner trade and money.
All discussions about brexit between EU and the U.K. is just a show to stall and hopefully stop brexit, at least in the hopes of EU and U.K. establishment.
If U.K. leaves, it's a signal to other EU countries they can do the same.
In the scenario U.K. still develops successfully after leaving, opposite what EU and its supporters have claimed, their arguments and credibility fall like the lying scumbags they are. First 2 years will be messy but they'll recover with or without EU.
EU is desperate...
