Repeaters give you longer range, but less speed. When you place them far apart the signal they get is weaker and full of packet loss. It "repeats" the good data so the signal is good for another X number of feet, but that new signal contains much less data thanks to the packet loss due to the distance from it to your main hub.

A better way is to just build take an old Satellite dish and use it as a Wifi Antenna.



Since this is not an extender, your speed will stay fast, and your range is much further (5km according to the video).

If your plan instead is to offer wifi to a lot of people in a wider range, repeaters won't do. You would be better off running Ethernet cable to all the points you want and then attaching wireless routers to end of each. This way you won't have any packet loss between your main router and each wireless access point, and everyone who connects to that wifi will have good speed.
