It seems to me there are two different mindsets in American culture.
One side is uptight, angry, mad, and always wants to fight. They have the mindset of "It's my way or the highway and if you don't like it fuck you the horse you rode in on". The other side is very much easy going and believes everyone has rights.
One side goes about getting things done properly, the other side is messy. Take a look at what is happening at our border. Obama deported more people than any other President, and he did so without making a big deal about it or declaring any kind of national emergency. Trump, on the other hand, made border protection and immigration a campaign promise, been loud about it - overly so - gone about everything the wrong way, done more harm than good, and accomplished nothing.
