Your theory of big nosy rednecks vs weak doesn't really fly in fact it can possibly be part of the problem. If a weaker person feels threatened by a bigger person, he is not going to try and fist fight him he's going to use a weapon..
Guns make everyone equal in a sense and make it much easier to enforce your will on others who threaten you..
So the question becomes why are people feeling so threatened that they reach for a gun..

Kelts can be VERY aggressive and prefer family groups over governments. (think boston, northern ireland, detroit, chicago etc..so
you can see the swagger on both flavours of those entrenched in the Keltic culture, chocolate and vanilla.
