Some useful articles for crockette on why he's spinning out of control mentally with his "nomadic" lifestyle and self imposed isolation from social relationships and how it relates to his 3-4 year downward spiral into all out hatred for others. (there was the same inevitable outcome for theking - had to move to a remote cabin, armed to the teeth, created a defensive perimeter and rigged the area with booby traps and defensive firing positions, according to him, he loved his dog in the end more than his own children etc and was quite open about hating people)

"A lack of social relationships negatively impacts the development of the brain's structure. In extreme cases of social isolation, studies of young mice and monkeys have shown how the brain is strongly affected by a lack of social behaviour and relationships."

"The new results, along with other recent brain studies, clearly show that for social species, isolation is damaging, says neurobiologist Huda Akil of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. “There is no question that this is changing the basic architecture of the brain,” Akil says."

"Humans are hardwired to interact with others, especially during times of stress. When we go through a trying ordeal alone, a lack of emotional support and friendship can increase our anxiety and hinder our coping ability."

"One of the most remarkable effects of chronic social isolation, as in the extreme case of solitary confinement, is the decrease in the size of hippocampus, the brain region related to learning, memory, and spatial awareness. The sustained stress of extreme isolation leads to a loss of hippocampal plasticity, a decrease in the formation of new neurons, and the eventual failing in hippocampal function. On the other hand, the amygdala increases its activity in response to isolation. This area mediates fear and anxiety, symptoms enhanced in prisoners in solitary confinement. "
