I thought this season was great...but maybe it's because I want to enjoy shows I watch so I overlook flaws. I'm not going to watch a show for 8 years which has progressively become larger in scope and scale with each passing year and then nitpick it to death. Or maybe be the person who knows more than the writers what the fate of a certain character should be.
The spectacle of this TV show could rival most big action movies. The acting is fantastic, especially Emilia Clarke this season. I've seen her in other stuff and thought she sucked, but she really acts the shit out of Danaerys.
It's just funny to me that everyone thought it was so great and then decides it's a disaster. Fuck those people. Pull the stick out of your ass and enjoy life.

Like you, I try to just kick back and enjoy a show. I don't worry too much about tiny details or shit that doesn't make a whole lot of sense. In the end, if I was entertained, that is all that matters.
That said, this season, for me, was a little anti-climactic. I had a hard time getting into episode 3 because of how dark it was and I found I just didn't really care what happened to most of the people. Still, I was happy with how it turned out and I'm happy I went along for the journey.
