Really, This comes down to a matter of trust.
When 5G rolls out, it will eventually take over everything.
They have a lead in the tech since the government has subsidized it.
If you really think about it, it is more about maintaining some sovereignty of our #1 communications network outside of the internet itself.
I could sit here and make valid accusations of nearly any communications company.
Any of them would sell out if they thought they would not be caught and many have not been caught.
So, it is more than the mere hardware, it is about a patented standard for those communications. If the entire world becomes dependent on China or a Chinese co, it will likely be very frustrating. Some can and will view this as a Take-Over attempt in the communication field. Could it be intentional security flawed ? Do you really want to take that chance. They have already won contracts with a lot of the world with large promises, early deployment, low cost.
It is going to be pretty hard to understand the gravity of all of this.
And everyone should know that we are not going to be told the details of it all.
But these type of decisions leave the play wide open for corruption. I'm sure some has been baked in already. Picking on just the phone hardware has little effect except in payola protectionism or perhaps a broader issue in the trade war.
You will have to wait for more details to surface to make a decision. I only hope we learn more, but not just Cheri-picked info to sway everyone's decisions. Keep your mind a bit open on this.
I am perhaps luckier than some on this as I followed this tech in fair detail for a very long time.
