1 - Lots of US companies base their business on selling their tech to the Chinese who build the phones. That ban cuts off their revenue stream. There aren't many other big players to whom they can sell their tech at such huge volumes
2 - With the ban, China will no longer have access to some key components in their phones. So what will they do? The same thing they have always done: reverse engineer all the tech and build it themselves. In the long run, they don't need the US.
3 - All this to stop spying? If it isn't China, its Apple, Facebook, Google or the NSA that can be listening in on us. Banning Huawei is simply a false sense of security. Most of the shit we have in our homes is sourced from China. Unless you all want to start paying 10x the price for stuff, it will continue to be sourced from China.
Seems to me this is a very shallow & short term play to look good.

If the technology was built in America, those firms would be selling to American firms and selling to the Chinese. Why didn't you see that from the go?
