Thommy obviously cares little that his customers have no jobs and that his chances of selling to China are nil. Does he believe poverty will bring a revolution that will result in a socialist style dictatorship running Europe? So far any movement to the outer reaches of politics has been to the Right.
If the West does not do more to protect the jobs of it's people the majority of people will be far poorer than they are now. Over the last 50 years I've watched the slow erosion of industries, always with the promise that new ones would come along and replace the lost ones. Tell that to the people who lost their jobs in car manufacturers, Steel plants, Coal mines, etc.
Even car manufacturers are going East. The jobs that are created are low paying, automated or in the 3rd world. Now the Internet is killing some of those jobs as people move to buying online. This means fewer pay tax and more need welfare so countries borrow more. But Thommy welcomes this.
