The odds on any candidate getting either parties base to switch allegiance are long. Thr best targets and how you win is in the Swing States.

In American politics, the term swing state refers to any state that could reasonably be won by either the Democratic or Republican presidential candidate. These states are usually targeted by both major-party campaigns, especially in competitive elections. Meanwhile, the states that regularly lean to a single party are known as safe states, as it is generally assumed that one candidate has a base of support from which they can draw a sufficient share of the electorate.
Election analytics website FiveThirtyEight identifies the states of Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Wisconsin as "perennial" swing states that have regularly seen close contests over the last few presidential campaigns.

And money isn't the most important thing if you're saying the wrong things. Voters don't care enough about who pisses in what toilet, who teaches their kid so long as they're a good teacher, that the Earth was created in 7 days or if you're black, brown or white. They care about the quality of
their and families lives.
Promises to strengthen the border, zero tolerance of employers of illegal aliens, curbing imports from China and other 3rd world nations will swing enough voters to win. Trump recognised that, Hillary ignored it.
They do care about banning assault weapons and better checks, universal healthcare, better education but not free universities when they see the costs. Abortion is a good one, but few really care about discrimination based on sexual preference, identity enough to swing a vote. Those who do care will always vote Democrat.
Bill Maher's audience isn't ever going to vote Republican so don't bother with any reaction she gets from them.
