Just here in Sidney Aystralia I've lived in 3 different suburbs, each has different rubbish removal rules especially recyclable's, one place was monthly another was weekly and where I am now is fortnightly but if you call them.. they come any day except, for electronic waste which is once every 3 months when the local streets are lined with old pc's, microwaves, monitors and super sonic big beat stereo systems of last century.
I'd imagine the USA is very similar and it differs from county to county, suburb to suburb, state to state.
