I haven't lost full connectivity in 5 years. When my home Internet went down I did like Chris and use my iPhone as a hotspot.
What is nice to do though is to completely disconnect once in a while. This summer I went canoeing a few times on a lake and left my phone behind. No Internet, no electricity, no hassles. It feels great.
At home once in a while we just turn our phones and TV off, make some finger foods and enjoy a bottle of wine by the fireplace. No tech. Sweetness.
