If one wanted to get into creating full scale platforms such as manyvids, modelcentro, onlyfans, pornhub. Creating them from scratch. Is it pointless to learn java/python/ruby. or can you simply get by using front end languages/frameworks? (node?)

I am being told by devs you wouldn't need to know these languages and I am struggling to see how you don't need any backend knowledge for the types of web applications we create in this industry
