Listen the the true greats of the music industry and see how long and the journey they took to become great.
Playing as school or college kids, years on the road before they recorded anything, sometimes in other bands, then early tracks that don't reveal how good they will become, etc. Then they achieved enough fame to be allowed to spend time in a studio perfecting an album.
Today they don't do that now with the access to Youtube, Soundcloud, mixcloud, spotify, audiomack, etc. Nothing replaces playing in grotty little clubs for years.
