Buying a computer monitor in 2019... Is it worth it???

I have not bought a monitor for YEARS ! Aside from my iMac which was kinda monitor included. So, I'm thinking of going to about 32 inches. And its set me wondering... What's the point of getting a monitor in 2019, when you can get a full HD TV instead for half the price?

Assuming that I'm only gonna be outputting 1080p to it anyway, and so you I don't need 4K, it seems mad that I could pay more for just a screen with two inputs, than a fully functioning TV with remote control, speakers, 3 HDMI sockets and two USB plugs to use for extra power? Hell, most even have netflix and amazon prime video etc built in anyway... So its not like Id be using the PC to access that kinda content...

& If I really wanted to output a movie in 4K, I would just hook it up to the 46 inch 4K TV on the wall and watch from the Sofa...

I understand that the 'Extreme Gamers' will say 'Millisecond Refresh Rates' and stuff like that, but from the point of a regular user, watching the odd movie, casually playing the odd game and browsing the web (and poosting on GFY of course) is there really ANY advantage in a 'proper' monitor in 2019?

If so, Please educate me - Its not about the money per say... Its more about making the right choice ! Thanks
