In fact, these people were literately fighting for such an opportunity. I mean it was like an Olympic Games achievement to become a Soviet cosmonaut. Only best of the best had a chance to fly into the outer space. In fact only a few of them have fulfilled their dream, while others were in reserve for all their lives.
