In the 90's, my work (Blue Blood magazine and Black Leather Times) got tons of positive and accurate press from non-adult venues, including The Washington Post and The New York Times. Yes, the coverage from FOX was less flattering, but they were the exception then.

Yes, many people are ok with porn, those who are visitors of Pornhub certainly won't be against erotic movies,
but most of them won't admit it publicly and don't want to be linked with it anyhow, because they are well aware of average people with kids, their friends, neighbours etc. who often consider porn business shady -
similiar to prostitution - even if the biz is legal.
Does anyone boast publicly with their full name shown that they fuck prostitutes? I doubt it. Do they boast publicly with their full name shown that they watch porn? I don't know of anyone locally. And how about webmasters here who don't even tell their parents what they do? There were several threads about this and most of them don't tell their relatives or even friends.
What are they affraid of? They are affraid of what I wrote above. It is a sensitive topic which can produce moralising enemies. And then all those religious groups that are openly fighting against the porn industry...
Show me a bank or a well known company which has no problem with their employees working as porn actresses in their free time. I am 99% sure these girls would be fired upon their boss finding out. Seems porn is not so decent for them too.
And lastly, even if there are people that watch porn, that does not automatically mean they also support it. There are so many hypocrites that watch porn and then moralise about girls doing porn, calling them whores. I see that every day.
The main reason why production of pornography is legal in modern countries is freedom of speech, not because the public support porn.
My point it that even the average Joe and Jane who sometimes watch porn and have no problems with porn industry in general, won't call it DECENT. They will call it DIRTY while still watching it.
