It's nothing at all to do with being dehumanizing. Her rate is her rate, yes, but the rate can be different depending on the scenes or requirements. The shooter also has a budget don't forget. Both people can try to negotiate a price in order to work together. The model may demand a higher rate for a longer or tougher shoot which she is entitled to get. But if the photographer can't afford it, he has to try to negotiate, or he loses his chance to shoot her.
