I make and sell sex toys for a living and for the last 10 years my key words have been #1 in google search with pretty much zero effort. A little over a year ago we updated our product and site using bigcommerce, but I still didn't do any real SEO and everything remained the same until this last September / October when my numbers started to drop fairly consistently. We've fallen well off the the first page and get almost zero google traffic now. It seems my niche has been invaded Chinese products in force. Fair play, so I've been adding content, optimizing speed, and SEO etc etc, but I haven't been able to make a dent. Backlinks seem to be my biggest weakness, but all of the backlinks are chinese affiliate blogs, super spammy, or porn lists that don't respond to inquiry. I can't seem to get an edge and I don't want google to spank me for shitty backlinks. Honestly, it feels like I've run up against the backlink equivalent to the Great Wall of China. What action would you guys suggest? Seppuku?
