That's obviously still fine. CJ/aggregator tubes are still pretty dominant in SERPs and I expect they always will be.
And you can still embed videos on your own pages, its just that those pages won't rank very well anymore (since early 2017 or so). I still use embedded video pages on my sites, to keep users on my own site (for better on-site metrics and user retention), but they don't rank like they did back in 2016.
So, you have to rank search/category pages now. Not embedded video pages. (for example, yoursite.com/category/teen--it'll just be a bunch of thumbs, no video player. that kind of page can rank.)
I'm too lazy to google it right now but the issue is that iframes can now use some sort of meta-tag to point to their canonical source. If google sees an iframe prominently featured on a page, and that iframe points back to a canonical source, google usually applies a large penalty to the page with the iframe unless there's something special about it (unique copy, lots of backlinks, whatever)
(some of this is just my own interpretation of what's going on--but its clear, that I used to be able to easily rank embedded video pages, and now it is very difficult.)
