The top tubes have "tag" pages for literally everything.
Your thought here has merit--if you're a small player trying to rank for some specific keyword/category, you don't want to dilute your site with thousands of pages that feature content irrelevant to your target keyword/category.
But if you want to rank for *everything* the way the top tubes do...you need pages relevant to every imaginable keyword.
