Man, Apple is annoying and only kind of works. So, officially their SD card adaptors only work for transferring files and sucks. But, you can move videos to a folder on the SD card named /DCIM/100VIDEO then you can watch the videos in the Photos app instead of the Videos app since everything with Apple is stupid since I left there..
Might work with music but I'm not sure. If you have an adaptor already it's worth testing.
Apple's only official option for more space for media is to either delete other things or to use the cloud...
