I think it's more of a demographic change than anything. Bernie and AOC types wouldn't have stood any type of chance because people didn't believe in handouts. Now with the population shifting you see 3rd and 4th generations that have done nothing BUT live on handouts.

Look at the welfare use:

Black population:41.6 percent
Hispanic population: 36.4 percent
Asians or Pacific Islanders population:17.8 percent
Whites population: 13.2 percent

Just a short time ago whites were 90% of the country. back then the 90% could easily support the 10%, even if almost 50% of the 10% are on welfare.

Now fast-forward 70 years where whites are only 60%...we're struggling to support the almost 50% of the 40% that are on welfare.

What will happen in 100 years from now when the white population is 20-30%? How will the 20-30% support the 50% of the 70-80% that don't work? This is a legit question. What will the USA look like? The future looks pretty bleak unless something is done.
