Theres a local Fish and Chip shop (a Take Away) that's just re-opened up after being closed for a few weeks. They only do online ordering and collection due to Covid, and that in itself is fine. However its quite how convoluted the system is that amazes me. You have to call up and order your food during certain hours of the afternoon for that evening's food. Then they allocate you 'collection time' which is a five minute window, when you can come in and collect your pre ordered food. You have to pre pay at the time of ordering, via bank transfer only as they won't deal with cash. You cannot just turn up and order, but have to pre-plan, and woe betide you if you miss your pickup slot. You snooze, you lose, and they already have your money.
Thing is, this has been announced locally and on facebook etc, and everyone is applauding this as to how great, innovate, convenient, fantastic and amazing this is... You think that this place was some marvoulse quality of food, or the only place open within a 50 mile radius, and everyone is rushing to jump through hoops to give them their business, while singing their praises loud and proud to anyone who will listen...
But here's the thing. There's another shop just a few doors down - He's never closed, has great food and simply serves you through a window at the front of his shop. You can pay in cash if you like - Prices are rounded off / down to avoid the need for change etc. Or you can pay by card - Simple, straightforward and available every day, 12 midday to 8pm 7 days a week.
Yet you'd think this other one opening back up was like the second coming of christ, and if they had not shut down thy really wouldn't be like your first choice for food. They are nothing special... Im sure its a lot of people wanting to tell others just how cool they are, just to be happy to jump through hoops...
I dunno...
