Just came back from Chicago, a couple of days ago. While I am not a big fan of large US cities, Chicago was very nice.
Great for me as a tourist, but the streets downtown were nearly empty, as was the Museums and boat tours.
Cannot imagine how miserable it gets in the winter, but the architecture and riverfront was very nice. Two thumbs up.
