I would imagine that's the middle men artificially inflating prices.

My close friend owns a small ranch with about 400 head of cattle. He couldn't get rid of a good heffer for $500 right now if he wanted to, but this time last year it would've lasted about 10 minutes at auction and gone for $1200 easily.

Yet beef prices are up..
