You're not a true fan of baseball or remotely know a lot about the game if you think a 60 game schedule is no good. Yes, it's short, and I think 80 would be better but that short schedule forces teams to compete at the highest level possible if they want to make it into the playoffs.
Normally the first 60 games of a regular season are yawners. This season has been intense to watch.
