I've left France in 2005 for 3 years in Belgium.
And since 2008 I'm living in Bulgaria.
Awesome country and people, fantastic region of the world, all countries around Bulgaria are worth visiting and re-visiting: Greece, Romania, Serbia, Turkey, Cyprus... just to name a few.
It's beautiful, affordable, well located and connected to the world.
And we're there to stay apparently ;)
