For those that cry for what's happening to PornHub, Traffic Junky, and similar platforms ...
... SNAP OUT OF IT!
Let's not forget the recent past. PornHub, like most
other financially successful tube sites, allegedly stole in mass, valuable content from their creators. This theft was managed by PornHub directly and or conveniently, by retaining third parties to rip and upload the videos.
Remember, those affected by PornHub's actions always cried about this yet failed to organize themselves with the other business victims to put an end to this more effectively. You can all lie to one another, but at least be honest with yourselves. Most of you didn't even try to challenge PornHub or their service providers legally or publically. A few business-savvy people on this and the other board provided some solid advice on how to go about it. Many of you didn't even use the defense tools made available to help minimize the possibility of your content being ripped, let alone being re-published to unauthorized sites.
Eventually, in the eyes of consumers, mainstream advertisers, and even the victims of the content theft, the dark horse was turning its coat to be quasi white. Having stolen the vast majority of the content published online and now having the bulk of traffic, the theft victims took the lazy approach of "if can't beat them, join them".
Now you voluntarily upload your fresh unique content to their site, surrendering control over its distribution, and hope for some of the cash to trickle down to you. PornHub, had the technical and financial means to control the uploading of unlicensed/illegal videos by their "rogue" members. PornHub chose not to implement those processes, because it goes against their very profitable business model.
We all know that MC and VISA are themselves whores for money, and would allow their own mothers to be sold using their branded cards and network. Long overdue, MC and VISA are under public relations moral pressure to do something. They are distancing themselves only because the facts came out to light to many times recently, and now in a well-respected publication. Keep in mind that this is a calculated move on their part. What money they lose in PornHub transactions, will be made up among the hundreds to thousands of platforms that prove themselves to be legit and not involved in creating, publishing, or distributing any form of content deemed illegal. Keep that in mind. This is your time to regain control of your content and business.
Kick em while they are down. Many of you were victims of having your content ripped off and published on such sites as PornHub. Remember all the occasions your notices to remove your content was ignored by them? Remember when they removed it, only to have it reappear days later? It's time for each of you to write up brief "affidavits" clearing explaining who you are, how and when you were victimized by Porn Hub and the other sites. Send them to Visa and MC to help solidify their decision against them. You have a rare opportunity to place a series of nails in PornHub's coffin, before PornHub and the others find a way to crawl out of their current circumstances.
