If you just yanked your i5 out amd stuffed an i9 into the socket, just cause it 'fitted' doesnt mean its gonna play nice with the rest of it...
Linux can pretty much run on a potato. Which is a GOOD thing

The LGA socket for i9 i believe is 1200 and i5 is 1155 or 1151, depending on generation. Physically will fit in the socket but is definitely different architecture.
