They all laughed at the idea of Quentin Tarantino being even close to the best director of his time. I asked someone who they thought was the best director and this was their response:
"LOL. IMO Kelly Reichardt or Josephine Decker. But there is also Wong Kar-Wai, Céline Sciamma, Todd Haynes, Jim Jarmusch, Michael Haneke or the Coen Bro’s. Maybe Charlie Kauffman or Claire Denis. Filmmakers who are pushing the medium forward through an incredibly unique vision while being socially relevant and addressing massive themes that our world universally goes through on a day to day. Like dealing with people such as yourself."
I don't consider myself a movie/film expert by any means, but I've only heard of the Coen brothers from that list. I came up with the comparison of Tyler to Tarantino to compare their financial success, not social or innovative impact.
