my country's government was getting ridiculous with the regulations several years ago (i.e.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Choke_Point) but a lot of the business restrictions had eased up in recent years.
regardless this was not handled in a professional manner. not even sure if what they claim to have done is legal, perhaps Canada allows these sort of actions however "reversing" transactions which were settled 3 years prior seems reckless. I'm fortunate that all of the entities involved are still in business, whether I hear back from them or not remains to be seen.
