OP, If you really want to know why XHamster did that, then why don't you just ask them?
In their forum they were asked why the stories were taken down. This is what they said:

That is from a month ago, so the stories section disappearing is not something new.
As far as having time to back them up, why wouldn't a content creator already have a back up of something they submitted?
