It's mRNA - it uses the protein building mechanism of
translation to build fragments of the proteins in the spike. As foreign proteins, these are what the vaccine is priming the recipients immune system to recognize.
In no way does it alter your DNA or genes.
But you know what can? Viruses. When they inject their DNA into the host cell, they can change the sequence upstream of an oncogene, turning it into a start codon.
