Those million dollar apartments in the centrum will lose their value as less and less people come to Amsterdam to party. Sure it will be quieter for awhile and the people there will be happier - for awhile. But the Dutch love MONEY more than they love nature, peace, quiet or anything else.
Property values will go DOWN. Why? Tourism and demand. What is the point of paying a million euros for a flat in the centre of a dying city with no attractions or fun?
I live in Manhattan and have seen it here time and again. Gentrification cleans up a neighborhood, prices go UP...then they go DOWN because everyone cool has moved out and went to another neighborhood.
Bad move Amsterdam, bad bad move.
