yeah you'd think it was silly until you realise hospital staff and those giving vaccines are still using surgical masks which while effective against droplet transmissions are going to offer little protection against smaller airborne particles.

Because of new variants Australia has just updated to this recommendation "N95 masks, goggles, gowns and gloves be used in interactions with patients with COVID-19, or those suspected to have it."

Problem is there's not enough to go around, even for front line staff. Double masking is a work around but once again we don't have the production to double mask usage especially with India's current out break where their 1.3 billion population is sucking up world supply.
