It depends on a lot of things. There's no way to prepare for how evil an ex can be. I've seen amazing marriages last forever, I've seen peaceful splits and I've seen people commit murder-suicides when it was split time because they were not prepared for how cold the world can get instantly... I'm not joking.
Think about that before you do it. You do not need to be married to be with someone forever.
