I also don't keep my skype turned on, too much of a distraction when I am trying to code stuff.
So some one doesn't want to do it my way, cool, they can always find someone else as I am not starving for work at all.
Once I know a client I can do calls or skype but I always try to follow it up with an email outlining what we agreed on so it is in writing when later on someons says "well I said so and so" and I say, nope, here is the email with what was said.

Smart man. That is how I do things. I want something in writing at first so, I have somethng to go back to when I have a question.
