basically, your address book, your local files, and your internet cache are all searched looking for email addresses. then the virus starts sending shit to and from random email addresses.
I've had a few bounces and I've never ever opened any of these. how do I know? I have a mac, not some cheap arse PC running LookOut.
even if I tried to open a virus, it wouldn't run.
in fact, I've only received these at work, not to my home addresses, which is kind of nice. Because I hate people, and they hate me, I'm not on many address books.

What do you mean, what I said is true, you can't get used by it unless you've opened it at some point. I'm on a mac too so it doesn't affect me either.
