That touches on the real issue here, I think: the people with all the money / power in this world absolutely HATE it that 18 year olds are choosing to make money online rather than stack shelves and flip burgers and join the military.
it's doublespeak, really. 18 year olds aren't SUPPOSED to have options, the system relies on them not having options. the internet has given them options that they weren't intended to have -- the authoritarian propaganda machine turns that around on itself and screams "they're EXPLOITED, they've RUN OUT OF OPTIONS"
its right out of the authoritarian playbook -- whatever you're guilty of, loudly accuse someone else of it.
The war on online money-making won't stop. big corps copyright trolling twitch streamers, demonetization of youtube channels, persecution of online sex work, the erosion of section 230...its all happening in real time, right in front of us.
