I never read a book, never took a college course (pertaining to design), I'm 100% self-schooled. Well.... not completely true. I invested in broadcasting school, which taught me alot. I never intended to go into broadcasting, but rather, applied what I learned toward the production aspect. And in that regard, I was top of my fucking class. Dennis Erectus (for those that recognize the name) gave me personal kudos, and that's something. I still have my project folder. He was disappointed in the fact that I wasn't applying it to radio, but was finally satisfied that I had a strategy and goal in mind, which was far more important than grabbing some $6 buck an hour job in North Carolina as a DJ.
As far as specific books, I would recomend books that get you in tune with yourself over any "design" book. Design comes from within. Read up on Tao Te Ching, Martial Way, maybe some Einstein, maybe some bio physics..... that's how I got here. In the words of Bruce Lee..... look inward.
