Will the playboy investment in the new 'Centerfold' Fan Site flop?

It was reported that back in October, PLBY Group acquired content platform Dream for $30 million to adopt it as the infrastructure for its upcoming premium fan site (via xbiz).

Yet will this turn out to work or be a flop?

OnlyFans I would say is like YouTube. It has many models indeed even people from TV and films on it. In the UK the news even covers onlyfans models, giving the site huge free publicity.

So will a playboy version succeed or flop?

In truth I can see this not being as easy as they may think to get the site going.

One of the reasons onlyfans works is that it is full of real people and gives a girlfriend experience. If playboy sticks to well known models, these models may not be seen as girlfriends, plus people may have seen nude pics and vids already of them. And will these models have the time to chat to fans or even understand how to chat to fans or even want to?

The advantage one presumes is the models that one presumes they will get may have vast numbers of fans on twitter and so from day one will attract customers.

This is a world of many onlyfans clones, and a world where tomorrow credit card firms could pull the plug on all these sites as they almost seemed to not so long ago.

Indeed, it only takes one of he small versions to mess up, to give the credit cards an excuse to stop payments on all such sites.

For me, Playboy has moved away from what it was and should in my mind be, to a generic porn site.

It is a shame, as I think Playboy could be a huge deal, but is going the wrong way.
